Who we are
-
What is MGC?
The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) is a governing body for culturally-based fraternities and sororities. MGC aims to promote unity, cultural awareness, and positive relations within the Greek community and the wider university. It serves as a coordinating body for its member organizations, facilitating recruitment, social events, and community service initiatives.
-
When was MGC founded nationally?
In 1998, a group of twelve culturally based fraternities and sororities came together to form the Multicultural Pan-Hellenic Alliance (MCPA). The council was formally established in 2023 and took on the Multicultural Greek Council name.
-
What cultures are represented?
At Texas State University, our organizations within MGC represent Latino-based organizations, & Asian-Interest Fraternities and Sororities. Latino-based and Asian-Interest organizations are in no way exclusive for membership by race or ethnicity. However, they have a primary focus to represent and uplift those specific cultures and communities.

Does MGC participate with other councils?
MGC works hard to collaborate across councils and promote the essence of Greek Unity. They partner with the National-Panhellenic Council in Hump Days/ Stroll Nights, which often host Drives ( Canned Food, Clothing, Baby, and or Feminine Products) that will be donated to local centers in the Community. As well, they support the Panhellenic & Interfraternity Council by showing up to Bid Day, and participating in philanthropy weeks, fundraising activities, and community-hosted events.
-
Showcase
Every semester, we host our Showcase, where chapters will compete in Stroll/ skits to exhibit the culture and meaning of MGC.
-
Meet MGC
Each semester, MGC will host “Meet MGC,” where prospective new members will meet each chapter within the council to begin determining the best fit for them.
-

Every semester, MGC hosts a market where local vendors come to campus and sell their products to help spread awareness for cultural/minority-owned businesses within the area.
